Paul started with his last $15.00…he bought a bucket, squeegee, and a bottle of ammonia and set out door to door. He earned enough money in December of 1981 to buy Christmas presents for his family. Paul continued to go door to door and work off his personal referrals while working part time at Sport Chalet. Paul realized after he did his first house that to do the job professionally and give the customer the best job possible is the only way.
By his second summer, he had his first four man crew. By 1984, he bought his first truck. And by 1989, he had expanded the business to screen repair and power washing with his custom trailer. Then Paul’s involvements with the International Window Cleaning Association (IWCA) lead him to be a professional speaker and consultant for his fellow window cleaners. He wrote many articles in the American Window Cleaner magazine and has been given the name “Mr. Residential”. Paul continued his consulting across the country giving talks and presentations in San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, L.A., Austin, and New York. Paul even developed a program to help other window cleaners run their business better and more effective.
By the 1990s, Paul’s Professional Window Washing (P.P.W.W) expanded to 5 trucks and 14 personnel. By 2004, he starting franchising his company into Camarillo and Thousand Oaks.
Paul’s fortitude and his strive for excellence comes from his father. He always told Paul, “Do your best, your very best, Son.” Those words have always pushed Paul towards doing his best in all areas of his life, whether that be as a father himself, as a volunteer in the community, or in his business by giving clients the quality job they deserve. Paul knows he has to prove this to each customer, everyday on every window, and on every job. As Paul says, “You can find a cheaper job, but you won’t find a better one!”
Paul has always taught and encouraged all of his people to do their best for each and every customer. Paul expects nothing less. When it comes to hiring people, only 1 out of 6 applicants get hired. On average, 1 out of every 7 people hired make the final cut. That means 1 in 13 make it into Paul’s elite crew.
Paul’s Professional Window Washing will always continue to give you the best job possible. That’s how Dad would want it!
